The Meripuisto park area is an ideal picnic spot for the whole family. The seaside landscape, wide open grass fields and the barbeque area invite you to put together a picnic basket and spread out your blanket. There is a big sandy beach if you feel like a dip in the sea. Meripuisto also features beach volleyball courts, a skate park, a disc golf course, an outdoor gym and an padel court. Children will have fun in the Meripuisto playground, which is built around a great ship with climbing tracks and even has a small planetarium. More activities are offered by the adjacent Kokkola Camping, where you can play a round of minigolf, for example.

Meripuisto is also the departure point of M/S Jenny’s cruises to the archipelago and the lighthouse island of Tankar (https://www.visitkokkola.fi/en/the-lighthouse-island-of-tankar/) . There are plenty of parking spaces in Meripuisto and a few guest boat slips. In the summer, the seaside restaurant Burger Village is open every day until late in the evening. Here you will forget that you are in Finland!

There are public toilets in the area, and the beach has lifeguards on duty in high summer. Meripuisto is located 2.5 kilometres away from the city centre, and you can walk the distance along the beautiful shores of the Sunti town strait while admiring the old boathouses. Whether you are travelling on foot, by car, by bike or even on rollerblades – you are welcome to Meripuisto!
