House with large garden in Hulshout, Belgium
We are now looking for an exchange in summer 2025
We will be traveling with 2 adults.
We live in Flanders, which is also called the ‘flat’ country : so it is
ideal for going on a bicycle trip (we have 4 bicycles) : no hills to stop
you. We have bicycle maps of the region.
We have a lot of interesting cities to visit: Brussels (50 minutes),
Antwerp (30 minutes), Leuven (30 minutes), Lier (20 minutes), Gent (1 hour),
Bruges (80 minutes) ...
The sea with sandy beach is a 90 minutes drive.
In Antwerp and Mechelen we have 2 nice Zoo’s.
There are also a lot of amusement parcs with roller coasters etc:
Bobbejaanland (20 minutes), Walibi Belgium (50 minutes), Efteling Holland(1 hour).
Technopolis (children discover technology) is in Mechelen (30 minutes).
You will find out that there is plenty of things to do in our region.

We live in Hulshout which is a small rural village of 5000 inhabitants.
Close to us (500 mtrs) you can go shopping for food etc. We have 3
bakeries which bake fresh bread daily. For larger stores, you can go to
Heist-op-den-Berg which is 5 minutes drive.
In Hulshout you can go for a nice walk in the woods and on the river bank.
In Heist-op-den-Berg there is a flea market on Sunday and a food and clothes
market on Monday.
We live in the Molenstraat = mill street. There is a 16th century wooden
mill in our street that you can visit Sunday afternoon.
We live in a 30 year old house with all appliances : kitchen with
dishwasher, oven, micro wave oven, refrigerator, deep freezer, vitroceramic
cooking; living room with television, music station; computer with internet access,
washing machine, dryer; bathroom with bath & shower ; 2 toilets.
We have a large garden with play tools for the children.
My relatives live in the neighbourhood: my brother Frans (and family) has
got a swimming pool in his garden and you can always go there for a swim.
My sister Maria (and family) also lives close by. They are both experienced
intervac members so you can always go there if you have any questions and
if you want to, they will explain about Belgian beers and chocolates etc?

The family was very welcoming and friendly, we met three times and talked a lot. They had lots of tips for our holiday, very good. The house was very personal and artistic, very comfortable and easy to stay. Wonderful exchange!
Very pleasant and well-located house. The owners' daughter came over to explain how everything in the house works
Nice house. The son waited for our arrival to explain about the house and neighborhood. Lots of tourist information. Good connection to Paris by train.
