A mountain valley home, near Vancouver and the sea

Visit the nature-blessed West Coast of Canada.
North Vancouver is a community between forest-covered mountains, a Pacific Ocean inlet and the City of Vancouver.
Our house is about 200 square metres large. It is a split-level house with 3 levels or floors.
The house includes:
- A living room, a dining room with 6 seats, and a kitchen with a 4-seat table.
- A king-sized bed in a master bedroom and a private bathroom with a bathtub, shower, sink and toilet.
- A second bedroom with a queen-sized bed.
- A third bedroom with a double bed.
- A second bathroom with a bathtub, shower, sink and toilet.
- A third bathroom, with a sink and toilet only.
- An office with a desk and chair.
- An entertainment room with a large screen TV and library.
- A separate laundry room with a clothes washer and clothes drier.
Trees and shrubs make the large back yard private, with both sunny and shady areas. We grow vegetables, kitchen herbs and flowers in the back yard. In one corner, there's a greenhouse, workshop and art studio.
We also have a large, roof covered patio deck with an outdoor table and 6 chairs. You can cook some meals outside, with a propane-heated barbecue.

Neighborhood

About the neighborhood

Our Lynn Valley home is a 10-minute walk from the trails of 250-hectare Lynn Canyon Park. This park has a free suspension bridge across a river canyon, a restaurant and a small nature museum called The Ecology Centre.

Trails from Lynn Canyon Park lead to adjacent parks that protect thousands of hectares of forests, rivers, lakes and mountain peaks. For example: The Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve encompasses 5,600 hectares of wilderness. Cyclists enjoy that park's 11 km paved bicycle path to an old-growth forest, a fish hatchery and a viewpoint above a water reservoir dam.

Some other large parks in North Vancouver: Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, Mount Seymour Provincial Park (with a car road to the alpine area), and Grouse Mountain (gondola ride, restaurant, zip line, a logging show and safe viewing area for two grizzly bears).

Sometimes, we see deer, bald eagles, coyotes, racoon or black bears in nearby forests or in our neighbourhood.

We are very close to wilderness, but Lynn Valley has all the services that visitors need. The nearest shopping area is just 1 kilometre from our home. There are 2 supermarkets with bakeries, a third bakery, a fish and meat and delicatessen store, a fruit and vegetable market, 3 banks with automatic teller machines, 2 wine and liquor stores, 5 restaurants, coffee shops, 3 pharmacies and a walk-in medical clinic.

Our home is a 2.5 kilometres from the Trans-Canada Highway. That highway and other major roads lead to places such as sandy beaches in West Vancouver, Vancouver and the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.
Many visitors also enjoy driving the scenic highway to Whistler, the resort village that hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Or you can drive east on the Trans-Canada highway to reach the fruit orchards of the Okanagan, the Cariboo and Chilcotin regions or the world-renowned Rocky Mountains.

If you don't wish to drive a car in the City of Vancouver, our street is on a public bus route to places like the Lonsdale Quay Market and nearby SeaBus terminal. The SeaBus is a scenic 12-minute ferry to downtown Vancouver. The passenger ferry docks at Waterfront Station, a public transit hub with connections 3 rapid transit lines and bus lines. The City of Vancouver is a multi-ethnic city with many cultural, entertainment and artistic attractions (and many delicious ethnic restaurants!).

Rosa and Francesc have a large clean and comfortable home in a quiet residential area of La Garriga. After a 10 minute walk to the train station, it was about a one-hour ride to central Barcelona. There are also many lovely attractions and cities in Catalonia, by car or by train. Rosa is a great communicator. She answered all our questions before and during our home exchange. When Rosa and Francesc left our home, it was clean and tidy. In short, we had an excellent home exchange.

We enjoyed staying at this large and modern view home on the eastern edge of the Reykjavik region. We especially appreciated the big kitchen, dining room and the living room. Our home exchange partners took care of our property and we returned to a clean home.
