Bright yellow townhouse with garden – 16 min to central Stockholm by subway
Yellow townhouse built in 1948 with a small garden, located in a quiet and friendly neighborhood in southern Stockholm.
Location and transport
An 8-minute walk to Gubbängen subway station. From there, it's 12 minutes to Södermalm and 16 minutes to central Stockholm. By car, Södermalm is only 8 minutes away (outside rush hour). It is also easy and common to bike from here to the city center.
The family
I am a father with three children (ages 16, 14, and 12). Occasionally, their mother joins us on exchanges. We are open to exchanging cars.
Local amenities in Gubbängen
There is a grocery store, pharmacy, and restaurants at the subway station (8-minute walk). A local bakery (Bageriet BAK) and a McDonald's are about a 5-minute walk in the other direction. Nearby, there is a small playground (200 m) and a larger, recently renovated one with a skate park, football pitch, and activities for children (5-minute walk).
Note: I am allergic to cats, so we cannot exchange with homes requiring cat care. Dogs are welcome here – the children's mother has a dog, so we are well-used to them.

About the neighborhood
Stockholm is a beautiful summer city built on islands with abundant swimming spots.
Sightseeing
Must-sees include the medieval Old Town (Gamla Stan), Södermalm for shopping and atmosphere, the main street Drottninggatan, and upscale Östermalm. The recreational island of Djurgården is home to Skansen (open-air museum & zoo), Gröna Lund amusement park, the Vasa Museum, and Junibacken (children's literature museum).
Nature and Swimming
The UNESCO-listed Skogskyrkogården cemetery is only a 10-minute walk from our home. For swimming, Lake Flaten is a 5-minute drive away. You can also find many city beaches or visit Eriksdalsbadet, a large outdoor swimming pool area, 10 minutes away by subway.
Excursions
We recommend taking a ferry from the city center for a day trip into the stunning Stockholm archipelago. You can also take larger ferries to Finland for a scenic cruise through the islands. For hiking, the Sörmlandsleden trail starts near a subway stop about 25 minutes away.

We had an amazing 2 weeks in Stockholm Sweden, at Greger and family's place. Their place was comfortable, well situated, in a calm area with parks close by, and 30-min transit to center of Stockholm accessible from a walking distance. Our kids loved it. It was also easy to drive around Sweden. We even drove to Kalmar, Malmo, Copenhagen, coming back through Gotenburg and Jonkoping. Greger and family took good care of our house and made it an easy switch to our spanish-basque family exchange that was following right after their visit. During the whole trip, communication was easy, fun and useful using Whatsapp. Greger, Mimmi, Jack, Ingrid and Rosa, you are always welcome to visit us in Montreal! We hope you also had a memorable experience in Montréal, Canada!
Greger and his family were really nice and uncomplicated guests. When we had questions, he answered them.

Dad with three teenagers (16, 14, 12) – relaxed Stockholm family life
We are a close-knit family: Greger (dad) and my three children (16, 14 and 12).We live a calm, everyday life in southern Stockholm with school, friends, fika and occasional trips. Sometimes the children's mother joins us on exchanges. We're used to dogs (she has one) and enjoy a laid-back holiday style – exploring cities, beaches, parks and amusement parks like Liseberg or Gröna Lund.
