Comfortable family home in Brighton and Hove, UK

1930s semi detached family home with large garden in a quiet cul de sac. We have recently renovated in a quirky and individual style, using many upcycled materials.

The house is in the quiet area of Hove Park within easy reach of Hove, the vibrant 7 dials area of Brighton, the beach and the South Downs, with all the amenities that a city offers. 10 minute walk to train stations and well connected bus routes in and out of town.

We have 1 double bed room and 3 single bedrooms, with scope to accommodate one further guest on a trundle bed.

There is a family bathroom and downstairs toilet, two downstairs living rooms and a large kitchen/diner with views of the garden. The large attractive garden has a patio area.

The city of Brighton and Hove is a busy and lively destination that attracts many visitors from around the world, you can enjoy music, theatre, bars, some excellent restaurants, museums and other attractions such as Volks railway - something for everyone. And of course it's famous for it's beach, pier and Brighton rock! For more information visit see www.visitbrighton.com. We are happy to share our recommendations. Brighton is about 1 hour train journey to central London and also well connected to other coastal towns (e.g. Chichester and Eastbourne) and is about 30 minutes train from Gatwick. The South Downs National Park is a beautiful place to explore for walks and pub trips and can be easily accessed on the bus or by car from where we live.

Neighborhood

About the neighborhood

We live in Hove Park area of Hove at the end of a quiet cul de sac. We have a small and narrow private parking space which you are welcome to use. It can feel like living in the countryside and we enjoy the sound of birdsong in the garden. We back on to a tennis club and in the summer enjoy listening to the gentle back and forth of a tennis game!

We have a small local supermarket around the corner, and parade of shops with chemist, post office and cafe five minute walk away.

There are several lovely parks that are within walking distance. For those who are active, nearby Hove Park and Preston Park both host a weekly park run. Seven Dials' shops and cafes are within a 20 minute walk. Both central Brighton and central Hove are a short bus or car journey away. If you feel like walking take between 20 (Hove)-40 (Brighton) minutes at a brisk pace. A regular bus route to the centre of Brighton makes it easy to get there. The sea front is literally down the road - it is about a 40 minute walk but you can drive or take a bus.

Our closest train station is Preston Park which is a 10 minute walk with direct trains to London Victoria, London Bridge, Gatwick Airport, Kings Cross St Pancras to the North and Brighton in the other direction.

If you exhaust all the exciting things there are to do in Brighton (although we don't think you will!), trains take just over an hour to central London and all that the capital offers. A favourite trip for us is to the nearby coastal town of Shoreham-by-Sea where there are beautiful views of the river Adur and the estuary, a walk along the boat houses as well as a boardwalk along the beach. Widewater lagoon is nearby. Other nearby cities/towns to explore are Chichester (approx 1 hour by car or train) and its Cathedral and Pellant Gallery. In the opposite direction is the town of Eastbourne which hosts the Towner Gallery.

Anne and Christophe were very friendly, accommodating and easy to communicate with. This was our first exchange and they were very helpful with this. Their home is very comfortable and was clean with everything we needed. It was just as it was described and provided what we needed to have a fun holiday. We came home to a clean and tidy house with everything as we left it. We would recommend!

We are family of 5 (Mum, dad and 3 teenagers). We love living in this vibrant city. We are both psychologists employed by the local NHS trust. Enjoying good food is important to us and we have a well equipped kitchen. We love to travel and escape to see new places and have travelled in Europe, America, Africa and Asia. Our hobbies include watching sport and several of us play musical instruments. Now that our children are older we welcome families with well behaved children of their own aged 7 and above.
