A postcard-perfect Swedish country house on 3 acres with room for 11 guests near Katrineholm
Beautiful Swedish Country house originally built in 1916 located on 3 beautiful acres in an ancient forest 45 minutes from Katrineholm train station . Recent updates and renovations include transformation of the original chicken house and tool barn which have been repurposed as extra guest quarters. The two-story main house sleeps 5 and features 2 bedrooms and children's nook upstairs with living room and wood burning fireplace, kitchen with wood-burning stove and bathroom with shower and incinerator toilet. Additional onsite accommodation includes a "mothers" house with 2 twin beds and attached porch, the "honeymoon suite'(above the tool shed) with a queen bed that sleeps two, the "chicken house" features a queen bed for 2 adults and an attached veranda with outdoor furniture. The house is surrounded by an old-growth forest and accessed by a long driveway off a main road. This place we call Björnkalla (Bear Spring) is absolutely beautiful all year round. Pick berries and flowers in the summer, mushrooms and leaf viewing in the autumn and elk and Winter Hare viewing in the snowy winter months. There is a semi-private lake with gated access for our guests about 2 km from the house. This place is truly nature at it's finest- rustic and charming with all the comforts of home. Additionally, there is a wood barn with chopped wood for your use and an old-fashioned outhouse on the property. We are open to simultaneous exchanges in Sweden, and simultaneous exchanges for our permanent home on Lamma Island Hong Kong.

The country house is in an old-growth forest that is perfect for taking in the natural scenery. Walk, bike, or jog the roads. Take a swim in the lake. The houses are few and far between. Enjoy some solitude and peace away from any hustle and bustle. Missing civilization? Need to stock up on groceries or wine? The town of Katrineholm is only a 30-45 minute drive away. This charming little town has a train station, antique mall, clothing shops, grocers, liquor store, McDonald's, Pizza, Subway and even a Starbuck's Coffee.

The Eltings and “gang” are truly a dynamic multicultural family. I’m an American (originally from Pensacola, Florida) and my lovely wife Rebecka is from Stockholm, Sweden. We are both long time residents of iHong Kong. I have been teaching English and Drama for nearly 30 years (gulp). Rebecka is a sourcing manager for fashion and home with a global company. We were married in Katrineholm in July 2023. My 14 year old son Jameson from my previous marriage lives in St. Albert Canada but spends holidays with us. Rebecka’s twin sister is married to an Italian with one daughter and her older sister is married to a Korean with a son and daughter. Mom lives full time in Stockholm and loves to spend time at our country house outside of Katrineholm. A warm and loving blend of our diverse cultures, tastes, values and traditions make every family get-together exciting and memorable Mom will be 80 this year and we hope to find an exchange in Rome for Christmas 2026 as this is one of her wishes. We warmly extend the offer of hospitality for any travelers to Stockholm, Sweden or Hong Kong.
