Apartment in the heart of medieval Bruges - Open

Apartement 105 m² (first floor - elevator) in centre of medieval Bruges, with unique view on the Groenerei-canal (www.visitbruges.be). Fish market, Burg and Market Square nearby. Livingroom 5mx5m, kitchen with all appliances, bathroom, master bedroom with double bed, second bedroom (bureau) with single bed. Terrace in the back on the south.
Apart from the attractiveness of Bruges itself, visits to the coast (Ostend 25 km), Ghent (50 km, 30 min by train), Antwerp and Brussels (100 km, 1h by train) are obvious. Amsterdam (200 km) and Paris (250 km) are nearby also. Railway station 15 min walk away, with good direct connections to Ghent, Antwerp, Brussels and Ostend, but use of our car is no problem.

We knew from our initial contact that Rik and Hilde would be excellent exchange partners. And after completing a 3-week exchange with them, we consider them our new friends. We immediately felt at home in their apartment (which has the most amazing location as promised) and the effort they put into organization, preparation, helpful hints and advice, and even stocking the fridge with some thoughtful items was extremely generous and appreciated. Our home was left spotless, and it was clear they treated our home like their own. Could not recommend them more highly!

Nous avons rencontré Hilde et Rik quelques jours avant notre échange car nous étions déjà en Belgique pour un autre échange. Ce fut un moment fort sympathique et plein d'humour, et qui nous a permis d'échanger nos clefs de maisons respectives. Leur bel appartement se situe le long d'un canal dans la partie historique de Bruges, avec une vue exceptionnelle ! Ils ont été très accueillants et serviables, tout comme leur voisine. Bruges ( et ses alentours) est une ville aux ressources très riches (architecture, musées, paysages,...). Merci à Rik et Hilde !

Lovers of nature and culture

We are a Intervac-member since 1986, when we did our first exchange with people from Portland, Oregon. Since then we did something like 18 swaps.
I'm Rik, retired since 09/01/2016, former journalist/editor-in-chief and director of a museum, still writing columns and books and giving speeches. Hilde studied tourism, recently retired, worked in a day care center for children and is crazy about cooking and about her hometown Bruges, where we live.
In 2014, we moved to Bruges, where Hilde originates from en where we lived already from 1980 tot 1991.
