House in Kaneohe Hawaii, USA
Our small comfortable Home is located on the Windward side of the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Kaneohe is a typical suburban area close to all amenities, tourist sites and beaches. The weather is pleasant all year. We live in a neighborhood with a private pool only 2 streets away. We sometimes can offer a car exchange but if not, Oahu has excellent The Bus service. We have NO Internet and NO Cable TV service in our home. Best to enjoy your time outside. Options are to bring your own Wifi Hot Spot or go to Starbucks 1 mile away. We have movies available to watch on the TV.
The island of OAHU has Waikiki Beach where many tourists spend their entire holiday. There is so much more to see and do though.
-Climb DIAMOND HEAD (Reservations required for hike & parking) https://gostateparks.hawaii.gov/diamondhead/about
-Avoid shopping in Waikiki, head to the ALOHA STADIUM FLEA MARKET for best prices on Souvenirs on Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday morning from 9am - 2pm. Allow a minimum of 2 hours to shop.
-If you like beaches, KAILUA and LANIKAI are only 6 miles/10km away. These beaches have fine sand, body surfing, kayaking, SUP (stand up paddling), kite surfing and snorkeling.
-The best snorkeling is at HANAUMA BAY Wednesday - Sunday. $25 Reservations Required 2 days before. You must go on line promptly at 7am, 2 days before to reserve a time slot for up to 5 people. Tickets are all sold out by 7:15am.

-The NORTH SHORE beaches are also beautiful and host the big wave surfing contests during the winter season November to March.
-HUMPBACK WHALES are visible around the islands from November to April. I recommend going on a Whale Watch tour. Other sightings of protected Green Sea Turtles and Hawaiian Monk Seals are becoming more common but please give them room, it is illegal to approach them.

About the neighborhood
Kaneohe is a town located on the windward side of Oahu. We have spectacular mountain (Mauka) and ocean (Makai) views, all conveniences and access to nature nearby. The Bus service covers Oahu quite well including to Waikiki and the North Shore. Our Skyline train opened July 2023 and currently travels from near Pearl Harbor to Kapolei. Can be paired with the bus system.
Kaneohe Bay is a protected bay making it great for boating. The sandbar is a great place to visit as you are in the middle of the ocean with a beach at low tide. You can swim, snorkel, kayak, picnic, etc. Access by water only.
Our neighborhood has a private pool only 2 streets away. The grocery store and restaurants are 1 mile away. We are close to the ocean & beaches only a few miles away and trails in the mountains less than 2 miles away. We live close to the largest botanical garden on Oahu - Ho'omaluhia - where you can drive, walk, bike or camp.
Nearest Airport: HNL - Honolulu

We had a wonderful 5 day stay in Boston at Hannah & David's home. They were very accomodating to have their home clean and ready for us. The house is a lovely Victorian home built in the 1800's. The craftmanship and artistic touches complement this spacious comfy home. We were very comfortable and able to relax and make dinner nightly after visiting the city all day. The home is just a few steps away from the MBTA subway station. We opted to purchase a week pass that included the subway and buses making getting around Boston very easy. We literally parked our car in the driveway and only used it again when we left. The garden is full of fresh produce that we added to meals. We especially enjoyed the mint and the variety of tomatoes. The neighborhood was amazingly quiet and just a few houses away from a bustling street with grocery and other shops. I highly recommend Hannah & David who were fantastic hosts and their home is in such a great location if you plan to visit Boston, Massachusetts.
Aaron & Olya were great guests. We enjoyed hosting them as a hospitality exchange.

We are in our early 60's, have traveled extensively mostly with exchangers. We enjoyed all types of exchanges - simultaneous, non-simultaneous and our favorite is hospitality since we get to meet you, learn about your area and share ours with you.
Dan is an avid sailor on his 18' catamaran, practices Shotokan Karate and enjoys cycling on the weekend. During the week he spends most of his time as a Project Manager for a construction company.
Carol trained triathletes, enjoys kayaking and is an avid cyclist. During the week she worked as a Service Technician for an alarm company but mostly works from home on property investments.
We both love to rollerskate but don't have many opportunities at home so we look for indoor rinks where we travel, preferably with adult skating sessions.
