A cosy Colonies home close to the city centre
Beautiful home in Abbeyhill Colonies. Colonies were built all over Edinburgh in the 1880s and are identifiable by the staircase access to the upper homes, private gardens, and their parallel streets which make a special community.
My home has two double bedrooms upstairs, one with views of Arthur's Seat, which is the iconic hill in Holyrood Park which is a ten-minute walk away. Downstairs there is a kitchen, a dining room and a lounge. The shower room is also downstairs on the lower floor.
Please note. Access is via stairs outside and there are also stairs inside up to the bedrooms. For this reason, my home may not be suitable for young children or visitors with mobility issues.
I also have a small private garden with table and chairs.
Princes Street and Waverley Station are a twenty-minute walk from here and there are multiple buses to connect you with the centre and transport to the airport.
There are lots of local shops in Easter Road as well as Meadowbank retail park, both of which are five minutes away on foot.
There is no free parking during the day and a car is not advisable in the city.
I'm mainly looking for exchanges in the UK and Ireland for long weekends, the Easter holidays and the summer.
Europe is also on my wish-list but not the Mediterranean in summer as it's too hot for me.

Abbeyhill is just to the east of the city centre. Edinburgh is a small city so it is very easy to get around, particularly on foot.
I am very near Calton Hill and Holyrood Park, as well as the beach at Portobello.

The house was well situated and very pleasant with a nice cat I recommend this house for future exchanges
Marie Claude and Yves's flat in Cannes was really well-located to explore Cannes (a short walk from La Croisette promenade and the SNCF station), and the Cote D'Azur using public transport. The flat contained everything we needed and they'd left plenty of instructions. Had a great visit - thank you!
Thanks to this exchange, we were able to explore London. The apartment has a very good location, close to the tube. The apartment is very comfortable.

I am an English language lecturer and have travelled extensively around Spain and Italy. I also lived in the south of Spain for a while so know it very well.
Barney is a new member of my household. He's an independent outdoor cat and is used to coming and going via his cat flap. You'd need to feed him. I am happy to stay in a home with a cat too.
I'll probably visit your home with one friend or maybe two.
I love walking in the countryside and I'm extremely fortunate in that there are so many beautiful walks around Edinburgh. I'm currently halfway through the John Muir Way (from Helensburgh in the west, to Dunbar in the east). https://johnmuirway.org/route/
I also enjoy pickleball at my local gym, live music, and dancing.
My home isn't really suitable for young children as there are stairs up to the front door, and also up to the bedrooms.
I don't have any stair guards.
