Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
The neighbourhood borders the city centre and is located in a residential area, opposite a park and near a lake. There are restaurants and shops nearby. You can easily reach the city centre on foot or by bicycle. The bus stop is 20 metres from the house.
Our house dates back to 1882. It was the first house built in Leipziger Straße. The whole house belongs to our family. It consists of three floors. On the first floor there is a flat where Eugenia and Claudio live.
On the second floor there are two flats. There are two flats on the ground floor, one of which is always available for a non-simultaneous exchange.
In addition, there is a second flat on the second floor available for non-simultaneous exchanges. In total, there are three flats available for exchange: one on the ground floor, one on the first floor and one on the second floor. Our flats have recently been renovated, as have some common areas, but there are still some parts that have not been renovated. The laundry room and the garden are a part we share.
On the ground floor, near the garden door, there is a recently renovated bathroom, which is very convenient as it is close to the garden.

Everything was perfect.
Lovely house and superb hosts - yet another fantastic INTERVAC exchange experience!
This was our forty-first exchange. We had never found a house so dirty. We spent the first three days cleaning. We had to buy cleaning products and air fresheners. The washing machine was black with mould, but after cleaning it, we discovered that it didn't work. We had to go 50 km away to a self-service laundromat. The whole house needs maintenance: broken windows, missing lamps, broken sofas and chairs. The apartment had a strong unpleasant smell, so we had to keep the windows open at all times. We bought specific products to clean the carpets and sanitise the place. Despite this, our stay was extremely unpleasant. We were not left any instructions on how to use the house, nor any tourist information. When we asked for information via WhatsApp, we were given incorrect information. Our apartment in Chemnitz was left dirty, messy and smelly.
Sotiria and Tasia are kind, friendly and nice. We felt immediately at ease with them. We had no problems communicating, despite their poor knowledge of English. We communicated with the translator from Italian to Greek and there were no problems. The house we exchanged with is a flat on the first floor of the building in which the family lives. It is quite spacious and comfortable. The listing is correctly represented on intervac, however it is difficult to use the navigator because of the addresses written in Greek.

We have a lot of experience and are available to guide new members.
We are an Italian family consisting of Claudio and Eugenia, both retired. Our daughters do not live with us and do not usually travel with us. Our membership status is PLATINUM, which means we already have a lot of experience in home exchange. We are looking for our 43rd exchange.
We have been living in Chemnitz since 2019. Eugenia and Claudio are retired, so an exchange would be possible at any time of the year. A non-simultaneous exchange would also be possible, as we have two other apartments available.
No one in our family smokes, so we prefer to host non-smokers. However, smoking is allowed in the garden and on the balcony.
Our cats are independent and don't normally need any assistance. We have mentioned them because they roam around the common areas and some people may be allergic.
